Something damp this way comes.

I came to the Lovecraftian myhos in my late teens mainly through comic writers like Alan Moore and Neil Gaimen who were big fans of the nameless horror meister. They incorporated some of his weirdness into some of my favourite stories.

Since then and since going back to the source material, I've been astounded by how many creative people have been influenced by H P Lovecraft and taken, blended and re-mixed his ideas into new and subversive works.

I think the most successful of these are when they are created by fans. The real love and insights into the source material really show through then. Also they try to capture the thrill of being really scared by the shadows in the corner.

This on the other hand is a comedy. Not a problem because horror and comedy do go well together.

I love the absurdity of the Fish Men and their suckers. It looks promising from the trailer.
Lets hope the Fan Boys are running this show and have done a top notch side-spliting scare-fest.

The Last Lovecraft

Jeff, a down on his luck office worker finds out he is the last living relative of horror novelist H.P. Lovecraft. What he doesn't know is that Lovecraft's monsters are real and will soon threaten the very existence of mankind. Jeff and his best friend Charlie are forced to embark on a perilous adventure and they enlist the help of high school acquaintance, Paul, a self proclaimed Lovecraft specialist. Together the three unlikely heroes must protect an alien relic and prevent the release of an ancient evil, known as Cthulhu.

Teethgrinder

Just got back from the Dentist.

Ow!

Little bit of a weird experience while sitting in the dentist's chair.

Told to lay back and open my mouth.

A wave of unease and embarrassment flows over me.

It felt like I was asked to undress in front of an audience.

Have I now got a hang-up about oral hygiene?

...and do I need a real check-up from the neck-up?

BTW. This popped into my head at the same time.

Therapy?

Well I'm here, at 'Flash on the Beach 09' held in sunny (yes it was) Brighton.
I'm still pondering over the stuff I've seen and examining my feelings about the whole event. This I will expand upon later but first...
As the tickets says 'Never Mind the Bollocks Give Me a Beer.
Laters...
